So like 5 very broken hours of sleep each night. Then about 1:30am I'll take Clonazepem (sp) to just put myself back to sleep, but even then I'm only getting 3 hours of sleep with that. The anxiety seems to have gone down a bit but now I fall asleep and wake up almost every hour on the hour. a good lesson to being accepting and patient). I developed anxiety because I refused to let stress roll off my back and instead focused on it like a hawk and schemed to try to change the environment at work (bad idea. I started taking it because I had insomnia that developed from anxiety (and then depression crept in). I'm in the same boat as you are, Snuffles. Thanks everyone for listening and your help. My decision-making is impaired - so I can't seem to make a decision on whether to increase my dosage or stay on the same dosage and see if the insomnia/anxiety resolve themselves with even more time. Because of the continued insomnia and some anxiety, I'm afraid Lexapro is too activating for me. Do you think I need to increase my dose to 5 mg of Lexapro? (because I develop afternoon/evening anxiety, but am fine in the mornings after I take my Lexapro - just slightly groggy)ΔΆ. The doc said Lexapro is neither activating nor sedating, unlike Zoloft which is activating. I'm afraid to call my pdoc because he never responds to me the same day I call, and so I'm anxious the whole day waiting for a response or resolution, and then he gets his receptionist to respond to me, but she can't ever answer my questions, so I thought I'd ask you guys for any insight. I've started to develop fear around bedtime and more anxiety about my insomnia. I do also see a therapist, exercise (yoga and running) 4-5 times a week, and practice relaxation techniques. Week 3: Still on 2.5 mg Lexapro in morning: Bad insomnia (get maybe 2-3 hours of sleep per night, sometimes less, even drinking Sleepytime tea and taking 3 mg melatonin, which usually knocks me out), Anxiety creeps back up in the late afternoon and evenings. Week 2: Doc decreased me to 2.5 mg Lexapro because I was so drugged - drugginess went away - developed insomnia again, some anxiety - switched to taking meds in the morning Week 1: 2.5 mg Lexapro generic + 12.5 mg Zoloft generic (switching phase) - extremely tired and groggy, felt cut off from all emotions, drugged, dizzy, severe loss of short-term memory, probably due to the grogginess The doctor decided the Zoloft was too activating for me, so he switched me to Lexapro 3 weeks ago. Then suddenly, it was like a switch went off in my brain and suddenly I had bad anxiety, was hyper-alert, paranoid and suspicious, and insomnia to the point that I wasn't even getting an hour of sleep at night for about 2-3 weeks, even after taking melatonin or even Trazodone at night. I felt great with the exception of some minor insomnia up until February. I started on 12.5 mg of Setraline (generic Zoloft) for GAD and major recurrent depression in October, and increased to 25 mg in November. To give you some background, I'm INCREDIBLY sensitive to medication, to the point that my psychiatrist is afraid to try too many things out with me. I'm at the end of my wits and a little scared to call my doctor after 1+ month of bad insomnia. I'm new to the depression forums, and have been reading your helpful posts for a few weeks now.
